Strategic Road Map

You responded to our survey and we listened. 

Over the next two years you can look forward to following enhancements to our programs and services:

  • A small technology lab with two iMac computers with 27” retina displays with full Adobe Creative Suite, 3D modeling software and a 3D printer
  • An increase in the selection of eBooks and eAudio
  • Uncomplicated downloading of eBooks and eAudio through more flexible, cloud-based services
  • An easy to use website to make the information you are looking for easy to find
  • Make streaming movies and digital magazines available
  • More craft and culinary programs for adults
  • Lend more “things” (like guitars and board games)

Specifically For Children and Tweens:

  • More Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics (STEAM) programs
  • Provide a larger selection of ebooks for children and tweens
  • Make tween programs open to 7th and 8th graders
  • Make Accelerated Reader information easier to find in the beginning reader collections
  • Have non-fiction titles on the Battle of the Books lists

For Teens:

  • Have another reading program besides the summer reading program
  • Host more college prep programs
  • Expand volunteer opportunities

 

In addition to these enhancements that will be coming over the next two years, we have also updated our Strategic Plan.  Here is what is different about this “Strategic Road-Map” that can be found below.

  1. A new mission statement that concisely sums up the Library’s purpose in the community. This was approved by the Library Commission in March 2015.
  2. Measures and Activities have been replaced by Outcomes. Unfortunately, due to the constraints of our current facility, many of the 2010-2014 measures were not achieved. However, we accomplished many of the Activities under Consideration.
  3. The Community and Library Snapshots have been updated.
  4. An online survey was conducted in an effort to fully understand what the community wants and needs from the Library. After analyzing the survey results, staff addressed the feedback from the community in the Outcomes and those enhancements can be found listed at the top of the page.
